ENDED - Freamwhole's Completion Challenge 2017

#1

This is the announcement page for the 2017 version of the contest.

If you hadn’t heard about last year’s contest - check here: Freamwhole’s 2016 Completion Challenge

I’m running this again in 2017 - and I will absolutely dish out prizes.

I made the list back in March of 2016, so its been in place for quite some time, but I’m not ready to announce it just yet.

Here is the list:

  1. Threepeat - Complete a game that is the third entry in a series
  2. Roman Numeral - Complete a game with a Roman Numeral in the title
  3. Zed To Zed - Complete a game with the letter “Z” in the title
  4. Evened Up - Complete a game that contains achievements that do not end in a “5” or “0”
  5. I’m Number 1 - Complete a game that contains the number “1” in the title
  6. Stack It (360) - Complete a stack on the 360 and ONE (See NOTE below)
  7. Stack It (ONE) - Complete a stack on the 360 and ONE (See NOTE below)
  8. ID@Xbox - Complete an ID@Xbox game
  9. Free Is My Favorite Price Point - Complete a Free Game or Games With Gold game

  15. Dragon Quest - Complete a game that contains at least one dragon
  16. How About That Sports Ball? - Complete a game that is in the SPORTS genre
  17. M-I-C-K-E-Y - Complete a game that contains a Disney Character(s)
  18. Double Digit - Complete a game that has at least 2 numbers in the title (i.e. NBA 2K17, Madden NFL 16, Earth Defense Force 2025)

  22. Run A Vowel - Complete a game that begins with a vowel (“A” or “An” do NOT count)
  23. Super Old School - Complete a game that contains a character found on the original Nintendo, Playstation 1 or OG Xbox
  24. Four’s A Crowd - Complete a game that contains a 4 or more person achievement
  25. Pacifist Parade - Complete a game that does not contain combat

  27. Pixel Awesome - Complete a game in the Pixel Art Style (i.e. ROBLOX, Minecraft, Trove, etc.)
  28. Personalized - Complete a game with a character/person’s name in it (i.e. Aaru’s Awakening, Max Payne 3, etc.)
  29. X Marks The Spot - Complete a game that contains the letter “X”
  30. Dealer’s Choice - Complete any game

NOTE: For the “STACKS” category - you may submit two different games for the stack, but you must have completed both versions. For example - if you finished LIMBO on the 360 and ONE this year - they could be your two entries. If you had completed LIMBO (360) previously, you may complete the stack version (the ONE in this case), but that would only be one category and you would need another game stack to fulfill the other category (the 360 in this example).

    –Could be troublesome.

  2. Evened Up - Complete a game that contains achievements that do not end in a “5” or “0”
–There’s 2 versions of “The Bridge” out there.

  3. The Big Screen - Complete a game that is based on a movie or was made into a movie franchise
–So basically a bad game? lol

  4. M-I-C-K-E-Y - Complete a game that contains a Disney Character(s)
–Includes Star Wars! That makes it easy!

  5. Four’s A Crowd - Complete a game that contains a 4 or more person achievement
    –Could cause problems for some.

  6. Pixel Awesome - Complete a game in the Pixel Art Style (i.e. ROBLOX, Minecraft, Trove, etc.)
–Is ROBLOX really pixel art or just crap graphics?

Great contest!

Quick question. Can the games already be started? I’m a Bean Diver, so most of my games have one achievement popped already.

Oh, and can Windows games be used? I’d like to use World of Keflings for the oddball GS achievements.

A bit more challenging list this year. A few categories that don’t have many games. I have a few games in mind that I’ll need to buy for this list, so hoping they get discounted.

  1. Threepeat - Transformers: Dark of the Moon
  2. Roman Numeral - Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
  3. Zed To Zed - Ninja Pizza Girl
  4. Evened Up - Halo 4
  5. I’m Number 1 - Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition
  6. Stack It (360) - The Wolf Among Us (Xbox 360)
  7. Stack It (ONE) - The Wolf Among Us
  8. ID@Xbox - The Fall

  13. Sword In Hand - The Walking Dead: Michonne

  17. M-I-C-K-E-Y - Phineas and Ferb: Quest for Cool Stuff
  18. Double Digit - WWE 2K15
  19. Remaster - Crypt of the Serpent King
  20. Backwards Compatible Redux - The Maw

  30. Dealer’s Choice - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

30/30 completed

For anyone confused about how Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the third in the series, I found out on Xbox 360 that the achievement list actually refers to the game as Transformers 3 instead of Dark of the Moon.

#9

You only have to finish the games in 2017 - could have started whenever.

Any game with achievements can be used.

Apps don’t count.

Also - a completed game includes all DLC.

#10

Glad to see that. I think that was optional last year.

#11

I actually disagree with that. Some game’s dlc has been delisted and is now impossible to get like Marble Blast Ultra, Forza Horizon and PGR4. Also with a game like Smite, Warframe or Killer Instinct, it is extremely difficult to keep those because they constantly add new achievements.

Also some dlc is just far too overpriced, like any Call of Duty game. I think it should up to the person like it is on TA. Some people like the option of includes owned dlc.

While I generally like to get a full completion with dlc, if it is overpriced, I won’t pay to get a “fuller” completion, and if it is delisted, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

#14

I used to adhere to that frame of mind. Still pretty much do, but there are so many options of games without DLC that it shouldn’t be an issue for this contest.

#15

If you complete a game in 2017, but then new DLC comes out before the end of the year, do you have to complete it again?

#16

Afraid so. Them’s the breaks kid.

Mainly it is to prevent people from completing Episode 1’s of all the Telltale games and saying they’ve done it.

#17

You could just make exceptions then. Make specific rule toward episodic games game stating that the entire game must be completed. Honestly the only reason I argue for this is because of delistings. I had Forza Horizon on my 2016 list and was only able to get the original 1k because they delisted the dlc before I had money to buy it.

#18

Or… you could just adhere by the rules and pick a different game to play. I don’t mean to be a dick about it, but the contest is a completion contest. Arguing that the creator should accept less than 100% of all listed achievements is a bit ridiculous given the scope of the contest, don’t you think? I get that knobs and discos happen, but there is also hundreds of other games you can choose from. Especially given the extensive library of GwG offerings.

It’s also been made very clear, in multiple posts, that you need to have all achievements in each game you list…

#19

I will be, I only bring it up as a suggestion to consider. Just like in a previous post where I mentioned games like Warframe, Smite, and Killer Instinct, I’ve never actually played any of those on my tag, and never plan to. It is mainly just questions and suggestions. Sure in a perfect world, I’d allow it, but it also isn’t my challenge and I’ll play by the rules. Also, this isn’t a competition. A competition would mean that we were actually competing to be first or something along those lines. This is a challenge, which is what it was called, implying that it is more of a personal goal than any sort of competition.

In any case, it won’t much matter, I feel the only one I may run into a problem with DLC will be Battlefield 1, if they do what they did with Hardline. Although, for that to be a problem, I’d have to own it first, and God knows when that will happen.

#20

Like I said - I was firmly on the side of DLC is typically over priced garbage that I don’t want to feel forced into buying. On the flip side - full completions are much easier to confirm.

Like Spanky said: There are some many options for each category, so if there is a concern that a game might sneak some DLC in - you’ll likely be able to find another option.
